Looking to buy new synthetic winch rope. Looking at the Amsteel Blue (has to be blue in color).

Debating between 100' of 3/8 or 5/16. 3/8 rated at 17,600 lbs and 5/16 at 12,300.

Using a Warn 9.5cti. Their "cti-s" version comes with 3/8, but wondering if that is overkill for a jeep winch.

5/16 is $210 and 3/8 $265. I'm not on that tight a budget, but don't want to waste money.

Any suggestions?

I use and prefer 3/8ths.

I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with the equivalent diameter that the winch came with. Go 3/8" imo.

Better safe than sorry. For the few extra bucks, get the 3/8ths.

Just keep in mind that when replacing a steel cable and going thicker you will be able to spool less feet. I went thicker and there has been times when I wish I had some more length.
