Originally they were only available through ENCS (exchange new car sales) as a military only version. They were popular enough that Jeep decided to open them to civilians in 2013.

I thought I read somewhere that there were only 200 of the 2012 models made. And those were ONLY available through ENCS.
There's a soldier here in the Springs that has a 2012. He bought it overseas and had it shipped here. Would make a great collector piece if they really only made 200 of them...

I think the plan was for military only but they didn't sell so they released them to the general public. I'd like to think I'm pretty knowledgable on Jeeps but I never heard of these until the ex got one.
