Hello! I have been lurking on here for quite a while now and finally got my jeep today. It's a super base sport in Commando, the only option I got was the premium soft top. I wanted something with some more stuff, but you have to get what you can afford. Got it for $3500 off msrp so that was cool. If you are around here check out Rairdons in Kirkland.

So my first question, is if you had the no option sport, what would you spend your first... $300 on?

Welcome to the weird end of the Internet.

Not sure about the mods, but you can probably do a cb, hi lift and mounting stuff for about that much.
For $300 I would:

1. go to Amazon and get a Uniden 520 CB with Wilson 1000 whip antenna
2. buy a SpiderWebShade Trail Mesh Top
3. if you have the stock step rails sell them and pick up some take-off rubi rails.
4. then:
a. pull the drain plugs
b. take out the carpet
c. pull the doors off

Then, call it a day!

Some of us don't live in sunny-land, Tom! :thefinger: it SNOWED here today!

Depends on what you're looking to do! It can go a long way, or not so much...

Welcome either way!
Welcome to JKO.
My first time out I banged up my rocker panel so my first upgrade was rails. Then I went in the order these other upgrades are listed in: stealth high lift mount (and a Hi-lift), recovery strap, aftermarket radio (w/ back up camera), Viair OBA, RK 2.5 lift, tires, rear bumper.

Next is going to be the front bumper and winch to level the Jeep out. It sags in the back about 1.5 inches with the new bumper.
Hey, thanks for the comments, I guess I should mention this is my DD and at least possibly want to spend some money on making it more fun or useful on a daily basis.. I do plan on getting to some trails this summer though, and I'm planning on using the jeep as a reason to work on my welding for bumpers and sliders.

On the stock stereo is it the head unit or the speakers that are the limiting factor, got to drive it in sunrider mode last night after the weather cleared up and the stereo garbles at not a very high volume.
I do plan on getting that spiderweb shade sometime pretty soon, I have a 17 month old I don't want to sunburn up with the top down.
Welcome to the board. I would just drive it for a while, and based on how you use it you will notice things u don't like and want to start upgrading from there. By then u will have had enough time to save more money and research your best options.
Welcome to JKO!
just bought my JKU base sport there too!!! great prices. got mine for $20,500. a lot cheaper than anywhere else i looked.for $300, id get a cheap lift or good off road lights and some rubber floor mats all around
New headlights! Then start driving it off road. Your needs will be identified soon enough.
As far as the stereo and speakers, both are limiting. Using polyfil in the speaker enclosures seems to help, or look at the 77kick10 speaker upgrade from Kicker. Both make a noticeable improvement from what I've read on here.
Now go enjoy your jeep.
BTW, I was at Rairdons in Kirkland the other day (was not impressed). My water pump started going out on the drive out here from Texas. They told me it will take them over a month to get in a water pump. However they were nice enough to give me an invoice that says I need a new water pump and that I should take it to another dealership.
That's pretty lame. I won't be going there for service, it's too far away anyways. Still happy with my deal, and the service I got while there.

Ok, so far I've got some lights, moved my plate to my spare with a frame with a plate and center brake light, cut the old brake light mount off. Painted wheels, plasti dipped grill, and just got some 285/75 16s on. They rub only when inturn left, haven't checked for what they do when there's flex. Getting some spacers next!
