Two quick questions:

1. Got a notice in the mail that it is time for my '08 JK's first Powertrain required inspection. Will the service tech have to drop my aftermarket skid plates to perform the inspection? I have all aftermarket skid plates.

2. Would a weak battery make the Malfunction Indicator Light/Check Engine Light illuminate? My JK is not my daily driver. It basically sits in the garage except for the monthly wheeling trips. I start it up occassionally and let it run. I took it for a short trip a few days ago around the block to charge the battery, no check engine light on. So today I started it up, and now the check engine light is on. I was reading the owners manual and noticed in the section for the "emissions inspection and maintenance program" it states the light may be on if the vehicle was recently serviced, had a dead battery, or a battery replacement. There was a slight hesitation when I started the JK this morning, as if the battery had a tough time starting the engine. This is when I noticed the check engine light. So I drove the JK about 6 - 7 miles to charge the battery. Light is still on.

Thanks for any answers.
