I know some 15" wheels fit, but not all. I'm looking at trying to find some US Wheels Indy Mags, U10015907345. Here is the spec sheet for them. http://www.mhtwheels.com/pdf/specs/U100-1%20INDY%20MAG.pdf
15x9 4.5 backspacing, from what I can tell they ought to fit but caliper clearance can be tricky.

I'm trying to get the vintage CJ factory alloy look. Would really like to do a set of the Renegade II decals to make it look even better.

Normally more than 3.75" BS on a 15" will hit the calipers. There are some 4" BS 15s that fit though. A 4.5 BS 15 will most likely not work but you will want to test fit any 15 before mounting tires on them.

Well crud. Back to the drawing board. Really want to find some 15's with the right look to them.

There was a thread on here somewhere that listed the 15" wheels that fit.

ususlly the aluminum wheels clear and the steels have rubbing issues.

I've found some 15x7 with three inches of backspacing, but that will be too narrow for the future. Eventually I want to run some wideish 35's

How wide is your rim? I know for a trail only rig, I can run 12.5" wide tires on a 7" wide rim, in fact I kinda prefer it because it gets some extra protection for the rim. But I thought I remembered it wearing funny on the street when on a narrower rim.

I believe they are 8, might be 9 wide. I forgot from when i ordered. I run them at 28 psi and after 7k, they are doing pretty good on wearing. I rotate every 3k.

I don't even have the new Wrangler yet, but this is it.
2013 2 door Crush 6 spd

I have a plan for it, does anyone remember the Skunkwerks project Porkchop? This will be stripped down of everything that I can, and then I will put on the 72' CJ Renegade decals on the hood, and hopefully find the appropriate wheels that look like the ones that came on those old CJ's. They were either American Racing Ansen Sprint, or US Wheel Indy Mag. Might even do a hub conversion to go back to the old 5 on 5.5 That's what I ran on my TJ, and it would be easier to find the right wheels in the right size then.

Looking at these wheels as best option with the style I want.

I would not run 12.50s on 7s because like you said you will have the center of the tread wearing out quickly unless you run ~18 psi on the street to get a flat contact patch.

Cheap summit 8 holes here! 3.75" Backspacing and I think 8 inches wide. They make 7 inch wide too!
I had those on my WJ. I liked them a lot and yes they cleared the calipers properly on it as well. JKs and WJs have similar fitment as far as 15" wheels vs BS to clear the calipers.

That is actually a myth. The main reason many have had rubbing with steel wheels is because they were trying to run 4" or more BS 15" wheels. It so happens that most of the aluminum 15" wheels that fit the JK are in the 3.58-3.75 BS range which will clear just fine. Many (not all) of the 15" steel wheels that are the proper lug pattern for JK are 4" BS or sometimes 4.25-4.5 BS which will almost always hit the calipers up front.

Ok. ? So the of the backpacking on aluminum wheels vs steel wheels with the JK pattern is what makes the aluminum less likely to hit the caliper, because I'm pretty sure your explanation above boils down to pretty much what I said ?

Yes but it is not the wheel material that matters it is the backspace of the wheel. I wanted to dispel that myth. Not all 15" alloy wheels will fit the JK either just like not all 15" steel wheels will. It all comes down to backspace being less than 4" normally.

So, how bad do you think 35" Krawlers would wear on a 8" wide wim? They are 13.5" wide
