I have a manual 09 with 3.73's and 37's and I think its fine. I don't understand why people complain about the power so much. Sure, my 420 wheel hp mustang is a rocket ship, but my jeep is a nice slow cruiser.

I def plan on lifting it at least 3.5 inches with 35-37s eventually........ Not sure what to do.... I feel like a bobble head doll right now lol

I saw a T-shirt this weekend that summed it up best. It read:
"You may be able to go fast.
But I can go anywhere.
JEEP"

For that price difference of the 2 rubi you could almost have an GM Powertrain put in...just sayin

That's what I'm talkin bout lol. But honestly how is your 2010. It's not a complete mush driving down the road is it ? I had a trailblazer SS that had over 400hp but eh, am I going to cry when I test drive this tonight ?

i am too cheap to regear the axles i want to replace anyway, so i am still running 3.73 with 37s on an auto. the very first thing i do when i hop in is turn off OD. it is completely underpowered, but i do not think i'd be happy with 5.13s either....the reason why i'm hoping to do a V8 when i pay her off.

when i test drove it i was completely blown away by how much more giddy-up the tacoma had than the JKU in stock form.

that said, i like my jeep, but to truly make it perfect to me i think more displacement is gonna be in order:gluging:

So an 07 rubicon 6spd with the 4.10s shouldn't be TERRIBLE if I eventually did a 3.5 lift with 35s?

I certainly understand the angle of saving cash up front, since you want to build the best that YOU want to build. With the new engine, Jeep improved the overall experience. It is still not a quick vehicle. Going from 10+ seconds in 0-60 to 8.5 is simply an improvement. The new engine doesn't lack anything compared to the older engines, so IMHO it is a great improvement for the Wrangler. Find someone in the Jeep community who will let you drive theirs. I found several people who were gracious enough to help. I drove 98, 05, 07, 08 and new with various gearing in 2dr and 4dr. For me, the new engine was well worth the money as a starting point.

I'm very happy with my 2dr 2012 Rubi. Because of the higher monthly payments, it's taking longer to afford upgrades. But, coming from a Nissan Maxima, it's much more tolerable as a daily driver than I think the older ones I test drove would have been. (I have a lead foot BTW). Also, the motor & transmission (auto) feel like a fully modern setup that's only held back by the heavy weight of the vehicle.

After reading about the problems with the older automatic transmission, I would definitely get a stick shift if you decide to get an older one.

That's all about on the pavement, however. I don't believe there's much, if any, advantage to the new ones off road.

This is what I have with a 2.5 lift. No issues either on or off road. A little fast for my tastes in 4lo, but other than that all is well.

So I got the dealer down to $21500 on the 07 rubicon w 50k and a 6 spd, NAV, & hard top. I'm going sat morning to test drive it and if I like it I may just do it. It's def more affordable than a 2012-2014 right now for me. It's white and in really good shape. Less than 10k put on it a year.. Thanks for all your input so far guys!

Here is a pic in case anyone knows who the previous owner was
