Custom Fabricated Hoop Stinger Bumper

My friends are wanting to start their own custom fabrication shop so I decided to allow them the honors of making my Jeep's bumper. We used 1 3/4" 120 DOM tubing and 3/16" steel with reinforced winch plate (forgot dimensions). They have been building on the side for many years but plan to open doors eventually. Best part is they have already agreed to become JK Owners sponsors as soon as they get settled in. Enjoy the photo shoot and forgive my low end cell phone camera.

Picking up the materials for the build. All 100% American made steel will be used in this build ... Except for the Chinese D-Rings

The shop being used for the build. Yes, its a garage but the quality came out fantastic as you will see later on.

Pictures of the bumper that is being replaced shortly ...

Let the fabricating begin!

Welding in place the new winch plate using a Snap On MIG unit. I am returning Saturday to finalize the winch mount (figured it needs more support to function safely).

Building the bumper's base ...

Attaching the lower skid plate to the bumper's base

Creating the bumper's end caps comes next ...

One overall shot the bumper so far

Preparing to attach a set of D-rings

One of my personal favorites...the recessed winch fair lead!

Finally starting the tube bending process (following morning)

The stinger is now attached but awaiting the support brackets

Supports brackets now attached to the hoop and stinger

Shot from the inside...please ignore the but splatters!

So whats next for this bumper?
  • Recessing a Rigid Industries 20" LED Light bar (once funding allows) into the bumper.
  • Debating between Raptor liner or powder coating

Whats next for the Jeep?
  • Custom fabricated tube fenders
  • Custom fabricated rear bumper
  • Custom fabricated rock sliders
  • All will feature unique tube styling!

You do realize you posted this on JKO, right? You may want to edit your OP. Your friends sponsoring AZVJC is of little relevance here. Aside from that, looks good...

Edit, I see you changed your post.

I posted this on both forums and simply copied and pasted it across. Took me a minute to realize I still had the other forums name on it.

Thanks for the heads up though

The light bar will be recessed directly above the winch fair lead and centered. I have 23" of room so I believe a 20" should fit. If not I will drop down to a 10" LED light bar.

I've built 2 almost like this..i will give you 1 bit of advice, with the winch totally sealed inside the bumper on a long winch pull it will get hot and burn up...it needs to be a lil more open for airflow.
