I've got a few photos to post up of my bumper build. I purchased the Alljeep.com DIY stubby bumper with a stinger.
It was well packaged, and shipped via USPS and UPS.
I started by removing the stock bumper. Removed the wiring for the fog lights and then removed the 8 bolts holding the bumper on. 18mm socket I believe.
I mounted the front plate to the frame and started with the fog light mounts. I mounted the fogs in and tacked them in. Took the front plate off and burned in the fog pods. I then added the bracing on the back side and the top plate.
I continued by adding the side plates, stinger and d-ring mounts.
I finshed welding the fairlead plate on and then welded it all up.
Today, I added a 6in piece of 1/2in rod bent in the middle and attached it to the end of the stinger to clip the winch hook to. Then cleaned it up and hit it with some Krylon primer and some Rustoleum Hammered paint.
Problems I had were 1 mounting hole for each fog light did not match up. Meh, 3 should hold it just fine. The back edge of the winch plate touches the grill. It was about an 1/8in during fitting, however, I did notice after it was all painted up and mounted, it was a bit snugger bolting it up. There was some shifting of the metal with all the heat I believe. I don't know if I'll remedy it with trimming that back edge or using the plates from the removal of the stock bumper as spacers.
All in all, I'm pleased with the product and how the build went. I'd recommend this to anyone who can do decent welding, as it saved me some coin. I should have the grill/plate issue resolved on Wednesday and get the Warn M8000 mounted.
