bracketron bracket fix

if anyone got the little bracketron accessory mount from Quadratec... you probably have a shaky mount. if you have an iphone, ipod or anything that has a angle sensor... that thing shaking around has likely caused you a light headache.

anyway... i fixed mine.
small bolt. three nuts and a fender washer.

i used a soap stone to mark the profile of the center dash trim... (right side)
set one of the nuts down so a flat of the nut would clear the outer trim.
drilled hole.
used the first nut to firmly fit the bolt in.
used the other two to jam the washer so that it pulls the bracket tighter into the trim.

I must be missing something. I have the same bracket with a R.A.M mount and have no shake?? I keep reading about it and am kinda clueless as to why the problems??

Down by where your bolt mod is are there two strength dimples @ the bends?? Mine has them I think and now that I think about it that would allow some vibes to shake it up a bit. Could there be a revision?? I would go out and check but it is frikkin pouring rain this minute.

mine has the little dimples in the bends. not much slack to move the bracket side to side... i wedged some paper in there once and it quit. i know one or two others who had the same problem. wanted something a little more permanent than a chunk of scrap paper.

I took a small piece of angle iron and squared where the bend is and welded it for someone. Increased the rigidity of it significantly.

I placed a piece of double sided tape in mine to stop the shaking.
