sPod install on 2012

Did my first major mod to my new JK and installed my sPod.

This part is easier than my 08 since no drilling is required.

Started trimming the center molding and realized since I was passing the cable on the driver side of the footman loop it was easier to trim a bit more on that side.

Passed the cables through the firewall. Forgot to take pics of running the cable through the interior but found it easier just to remove all the moldings. I have the radio with the Mic so was careful with that molding in particular. But it ended up being pretty easy and the Mic has a connector that was easy to remove.

Loosened the plastic bracket that is bolted along the fender and passed the wires behind it.

I loosened the 2 8mm bolts but ended up removing the one closer to the passenger side to slide the bracket in easier. That bolt was a bit stubborn to bolt back in but I won.

Everything tidied up.

Hope this helps.

Nice pics. Did you get the switch unit mounted? Any pics of it? How you enjoying your 2012? I am hoping to get into one soon.

Let the mods begin!

I told Eydie last night that you took delivery and she wanted to make sure everything was done by Moab.

Yeah I should get all my previous stuff on hopefully within a month or two but that lift kit may have to wait Don't forget that if I can't make MOAB I am planning to harass you in the summer.

Sorry I forgot to take a picture of that installed. I did get it mounted and will try and get a picture up later today or tomorrow. And I am enjoying my 12 a lot. I haven't opened her up yet because i'm still in the break in period but you can feel the difference. Also all the new creature comforts and small design changes make a difference(at least for me.)

nice work Luis, now i know who can install mine if i ever get one!

In 2009 a crack commando wheelin' unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the South Florida underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as wheelers of fortune. If you have a problem. If no one else can help. And if you can find them. Maybe you can wheel with The 50/50 Off-Road Team.

What brackets are you using for the D2's?
Do the lights come with everything you need to wire up to the sPOD?

Looks really good!

Thanks, they do come with everything, but if I remember correctly you may do some minor splicing and the black loom around the wire does not come with it.

Looks good.

Here's an odd question for the OP or anyone else who may know. I am looking for a nut that will fit on that spare bolt Jeep seems to have provided us on the negative terminal fitting. That seems like the optimal place to wire up things like an sPod.

Here in this pic, you can see it. That orphaned bolt there just east of the main negative clamp.

Yeah I was trying to find one but didn't have one handy. I should of checked using one of the existing bolts but I am guessing it should be the same size as the others.

Well let me know I would love to see it. Ref AZ we can plan it. If I'm able to go I would like to do it in June when the kids let out of school.

Hi Ben, yes I did. Ended up selling that one to a friend since this one was a little different. It was just easier that way. Now if I can only get my Jeep to look like one of yours!

Nice install job, it looks really good.

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to 99¢ a can. That's almost $7.00 in dog money.

Good question, not sure if there is enough space but the other problem might be some vibration issues. That is some thin metal.

Luis,
No problem. Drive it up, bring the family, hang out for a few days and go home... It will look better than mine....

I found out that if you hook up like you did there is enough space around the bolt that the connector gets warped because it gets sucked in. A friend of mine gave me a nut that fits but it is something I recommend that you do right away.
