How to improve your stereo sound with your hardtop removed

A while back I discovered that the stereo sound is toned down when the hardtop is removed. If you have your stereo playing while you disconnect your hardtop harness, you'll her the sound go kinda flat. I posted on the electrical section asking if anyone had figured out a way around it, but never got any constructive replies. So I decided to go and figure it out for myself.

First, make a little jumper harness

Second, insert the jumper into the female connectors for the purple/white wire and the ground wire

You'll hear the stereo cut out for a quick second, and then it comes back on with a crisper/fuller sound. I still can't figure out why Jeep decided this was a good idea, but I figured out a way around it.

Interesting what year and model JK do you have? I don't notice any difference at all in my 08 JKU Rubi....

I got rid of my hard top a year ago. I'll have to try this.

I'm beginning to see from people's comments that this may be unique to early year 07's.

I have noticed a definite difference when the hardtop plug isn't connected.
I'll have to try this.

I put my hard top back on 1 week ago but did not connect the plug...
I'll connect the plug one evening this week and I'll report back...
