Thanks!!!! No wonder I never managed to solder anything right, I heated the solder not the wire! Huge breakthrough for me learning this. Going to practice so much soldering tomorrow.

I just did my rock lights tonight and was bitching about the crap black hardware store shrink tube. It just won't get small enough to make a tight seal, so thanks for the tip. I'm gonna order some of the good stuff.

Several of your 'how to' videos have been very helpful to me - THANKS

Nice vid Doc look like you could use a third hand. I use two gator clips held together with a thick piece of wire. Clip one end to the wire your working with the other end to something stable. Keeps me from throwing the solder gun across the shop. Like the talking hands, keep up the good work.

Can someone tell me where to get the clear adhesive tubing and what size I should get it in? I was looking on amazon but I couldn't find anything!! I am mostly going to be working with like 14 gauge wires.

another way to have a 3rd hand is cut 2 slits in an old spray paint can lid to hold the lines. also is a semi good heatshield when working in a tight area.
