JK Guage Pod

Hi guys..welp, i recently got my dual battery install complete and I am about to install a tranny cooler with fan; however, that created the need for a three hole guage pod. So, I used my aftermarket daystar and began making a triple guage pod. I will spare you the pics of the sanding..lol.

I sprayed it down with the final paint I will be using and noticed some small pin holes...

So I took it down and sprayed it down with high build primer. When this drys I will wet sand a lil bit an then spray it again with the final black bedliner paint.

Well, the tubes were hot glued in place to get the correct spacing. Once I had that done and the glue hardened up I took expanding foam (great stuff) and filled in all around each tube and let it setup overnight..you should have seen what it looked like the next day...lol. My kid said it looked like the bat cave..lol. Then I shaved off all the foam that I didn't need and used bondo to secure in place and smooth out..

Great job man! I wish that something lime this was available in the aftermarket! Only change I would make (not like I can) would be to slightly angle the mounts towards the driver's side. Killer

That looks great. The best looking pods that I have ever seen for the JK. SOmeone should manufacture these so that I can get one. I'm not near as handy or creative as Rutdigger.

Damn you have some mad skillz. I would have to agree with a previous poster, a slight angle towards the driver would be better.

AWESOME!

What would you charge to do this, cut angled towards the driver?

holy crap get out of my head.

i will be adding a tranny cooler in the spring and was thinking where to put a temp gauge and looked at the daystar panel and was i can put them there, looks awesome, hope mine comes out as good, depending how thick the bondo is you may have a problem when the sun hits it hard, my previous upper panel had a lcd screen in it and i guess either i put the bondo on to thick or just not mixed right cause the first week i had the top off the bondo cracked

Maybe you should consider something other than bondo... there is a thread on this forum about top repair...

Yea, something must have happend when you mixed it. If mixed right and painted correctly you should not have had any cracking at all..otherwise all these cars out there with bondo would be cracking.. Use as little of Bondo or other type of filler that you can. Fill in the big gaps with expanding foam or something like that. The less sanding you have to do the better and Bondo is a pain in the ass to sand smooth...

I agree with you..although I use bondo on some of my projects rage gold is a much easier filler to work with..
