Tribe Coilover Install

Well guys I was in the market for a Weld in Coilover system and The guys at Tribe 4X4 came through. I went form the Bolt on Coilover mounts to these so the teardown was very simple.

Once the old setup was removed. I found a good sawzall and a few good blades yeilded the best results to remove the factory mounts. ALWAYS CHECK CLEARANCE WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO CUT.

Here are some shots of the frame rails and axle all cleaned up

This is the pile of scrap that you will have when your finished....

Here is the initial fit of the towers. They fit almost perfect, just needed a quick kiss with the grinder on the rear edge to get them flush on the frame rail.

The lower mounts were welded on after the test fit with everything tacked in place and the suspension cycled a few times.

And here are some photos of the towers all burned in.

I knew you were up to something when I saw all your shit in the for sale section. lol Looks like a really nice setup Dr. And as a former welding inspector, It would be my pleasure to place a passed inspection sticker on those welds. (where's your stencil?) Looks like really good engineering design. Hope you'll finish this write-up with the completed install. Congrats.

Lookin good!
Couple questions though...

Why would you not paint most of the bracket before welding it in? Just leave the edges unpainted....now youre going to have to mask off half your engine bay and wont be able to paint the back side...?

And seond whats your reasoning on going from bolt on to weld on?

Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

One step ahead of you I primed and painted the rear and top before welding.

The main reason i went with the bolt on setup was $$$. I have wanted to to weld on towers for a while and Tribe released these and i knew i had have them

I figured you weren't that dumb but hey ya never know

They are pure sex as far as towers go. Are they robot welded or does someone do that shit by hand?

Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

Very nice Scott! I can't wait to get my JK into Adam's shop... Tribe4x4, but I think my wife has got ahold of my brother and told him not to deliver it while I'm in Afghanistan.
