Gas Can Carrier For Stock Bumper

I wasn't ready for an aftermarket rear bumper but needed to take extra fuel so I put this together. It slides into the hitch so you can't open the rear door when it's installed. Not a huge inconvenience at all. I use the huge clevis as a slider to protect my spare. It works.

This is slid out 5 inches for the pic.

Thanks, I like the fact that it comes off so easily. I only take it with me half of the time. I wonder what they would be worth? It certainly takes a while to build one.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Thanks, you'll find that your welder will pay for itself in no time at all.
I went with the Millermatic 220 volt, 175 amp mig with gas.

That's a good idea. I'm thinking fabricate it in aluminum.

Nice job. If you decide to modify it in the future or build another, you should build a step-up into the receiver portion to help support that heavy Toyo/Moto combo.

Not sure what the tribe talk is all about, but heh, if you ever build it in aluminum I'd love to see the finished product! Wish I had the equipment & know how to weld aluminum.

I guess you can't see it in the photo, but I have two dense foam blocks that I wedge between the carrier & the spare tire at about the 4 & 8 o-clock areas of the spare. This snugs up the entire carrier & also relieves the end gate of some of the tire movement & weight. You are right though, need to incorporate something more rigid, perhaps a plate that is threaded so I can tighten it up on the bottom of the tire. I'll get on it as soon as it warms up.
Great ides, thanks for sharing Sir.

Thanks Birish!!

I did a bit of a write up on it if you want to see. Didn't get picture in progress, but I explained it a bit. I know I would have totally mangeled them by now had I not chopped them off.

Not, my trailer... it's Andre's. I was going to say compliment Adam on the thread, but I see you did that.

My original thought was for the arm mounted to the receiver to extend past the lower pivot point of the arms such that when lowered the arm would support the tanks level. In my situation, it would certainly be better to allow them to drop to the ground as my tire carrier will certainly hit them. Note the extra holes with pin to mount in various positions.

Cool, mine doesn't weigh all that much. That would be very lite. I like it!!!
