Rutdigger: Dual Battery Tray

I have been wanting a dual battery tray, so I made one.

Start by removing the monster battery tray. This thing is one huge molded plastic piece that connects the battery tray, fuse box stand, and air box mounting locations all in one mold...take it out:

Next you will need to cut off the section that your fuse box and air box mounts to. You will keep this section and discard the other:

Remove this reservoir from the front of the Jeep to allow easy installation of your new tray:

Make a template using foam poster board for your main mounting plate on the firewall:

Transfer that pattern to your 10 gauge and cut out the template. Next measure the battery width of the batteries you want to install. I found that you can't go much more than 7.25" on each battery compartment side for a total of 14.5" floor plate. It just fits, but barely, weld the sections together after you find your center line and cut a center support:

Continued:

Remove and fabricate the plate the fuse box and air box base will sit and attach to:

Add a mounting post for the Evap solenoid, drill holes for water drainage, and prime for paint:

Paint your choice of paint:

Continued:

Install in the Jeep:

Ready for the second battery. To hold everything in place I just used the standard battery mount J bolt kit to hold the batteries down.
