Boom Mat Headliner install question

I am considering Boom Mat Headliner. Installation calls for removing the hard top and turning it upside down to install the mats.

Has anyone installed the Boom Mat product without removing the hard top?

Not your question but FWIW. I flipped mine on JK and it made it super easy. 5 years and holding strong. In the past, I had bad luck on my FJ-40 getting adhesive to stick upside down on a headliner so I wanted to follow the instructions and let it adhere well before it was hanging. If it comes off once I could see it never being right again.
