Knockout knob extraction

Before you attempt to remove the shift knob make sure to video yourself for liability when you sue the moron engineer who helped send you to the ER. I'm not an expert on knob extraction, but it might rank worse than child birth looks. Again, definitely not an expert on child birth.
If you succeed in manually removing this thing and you didn't destroy it, you probably put your foot through the dash and your head through your roof panel if you were lucky enough not to knock yourself out on the roll bar.

Basically you remove the top and bottom couplings and grab the thing with two hands with your feet firmly planted on the dash. Then pull it up while "shimmying" it. I assure you, this is one you should video. Just when you think nothing is budging, you find yourself wondering how long you were knocked out.

...a crescent wrench and a hammer is pretty drama-free.

I think my husband enjoyed watching the drama. Besides, it's in a chicks DNA to exercise her drama.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I won't have to replace my shift boot anytime again soon - I'd rather drop the tranny!
