Factory Bumper Mod

While poking around in the garage I ran across my old factory bumper. As I looked at the steel piece that lives underneath the plastic piece, I wondered if anything could be made of it. So having nothing better to do, I pulled off my regular bumper and started playing around. I donít know if what I ended up with at the end of the day is anything that anyone would run permanently, but I think itís better than what comes from the factory, and I could see it serving as a temporary measure until a better aftermarket bumper could be purchased.

Here are the parts I started with:

Here is what it looks like before being molested:

Crush cans cut off and ends shortened and contoured:

Two metal panels cut to size and welded from behind to close up the fog light holes:

But it still leaves a lot to be desired. What a minuteÖah yes, of course:

Skulls make everything look just a little bit cooler.

Kind of figured it was you! Welcome to JKO! Nice to see some of the VJC folks wander over and hang out. I just wish they would have done something similar for the rear instead of the bare cross member. I ended up making my own rear bumper-cap-cross member cover once I took the Rubbermaid off...
