16" Steel Wheels on 2012 Rubi

I was looking for some steel 16's for my 2012 Rubi and could not find any that fit, can you run 16's on the 2012's?

Thanks

Yep, absolutely you can. No change from previous model years in that department. Any wheel that is 5x5 with ideally 4.5" backspacing or less is what you'll be looking for.

My JK came with 16" steel wheels! I just took them off today and replaced them with 17" aluminum wheels. They are sitting in my garage if you are interested...

OK so I got one 16x8" PC Steel wheel with the D slots and it works on my 2012 Rubi! No prob with clearance on either front or back!

I was told by a lot of "tire/wheel" shops that the 2012 Rubis will not fit the 16's. Its all BS, at least for my Rubi, I thought they might be upselling me since the tires are more for 17's or just dont know shit.

I think they may be mistaking the 16s for 15s. Apparently some JK owners have run into issues with 15 inch rims rubbing the brake calipers which must be larger than previous generations.

I'm half tempted to go to 16-inch rims myself just to accommodate more tire/less rim on my offroad rig. Jeep intuition is counter to street machines which favor maximum rimmage and minimum rubber.
