285's vs. 315's on stock suspension?

Please don't flame, I'm new to the Wrangler family, and I've searched the entire site, but I'm having trouble finding(or understanding) a scenario that's exactly like mine, so I'd appreciate your guys' feedback.

I have a 2012 Sahara Unlimited and I'm about to pull the trigger on Ultra Gauntlets, 17x9 with the following specs:
Offset: 12mm
Backspacing: 5.47"

I'm debating between 285/70's and 315/70's Duratracs. I can't swing a lift right now, but will likely do one in the near future. In the meantime my offroading will be limited to fairly light fire roads on fishing/hiking trips.

Can I get away with the 315's on stock suspension and with that offset? I'm ok with avoiding full-lock until I get it set up, and as mentioned, won't be doing any heavy wheeling until then.

Thoughts?? Thanks for your help!

315/70R17 are too wide for a +12mm offset and will cause steering lock rub even with modified suspensions so you would have to use wheel spacers with that width.
285/70R17 would fit

Great, thanks for the info. I would've guessed that with a lift they'd eventually be ok, so that's good to know.

My other alternatives have the following specs. Would these work with 315's?

Offset: -12mm
Backspacing: 4.52"

Same size 17x9
