Sorry to create yet another tire thread,
but I need help deciding tire size. I have JK 2DR stock set up now which is: 17x8.0 stock rims P245x75R17 tires. They measure 31.5" but more like 30.5" under the jeep.
I have 3.73 gears with 3" lift front and 2 " in rear. (Future plan involves winch and front bumper change) This is a daily driver and weekend wheeler. I have AEV Pintlers on order now. And need new shoes to go on them. My biggest problem is I have to keep the tire under the fender.
Japan law requires the tire to be covered by the fender.
I plan on buying Good Year Duratracs but the size decision is where I am on the fence.
Size Width Height Weight Load Range
285/70R 17 11.5" 33" 53lbs D (32" under the jeep?)
315/70R17 12.7" 34.4" 60lbs D (33+" under jeep?)
Is anyone running 315/70R17 with AEV wheels and no spacers? Pictures please (preferable from side and front showing if tire extends past fender). I think the 315/70R17 tire may stick out a small bit with the AEVs but from most pictures I have found can't be sure. Personally, I really want more axel clearance from the ground and think the best option would be the larger tire, but the more practical tire for daily driver may be the 285/70R17. I know the 285/70R17 will fit with no issues and may be better on the gears, drivetrain, mpg, etc.
