Tire Size Concerns? Weight vs. Diameter

I have read lots of posts about the issues related to large tires. I guess I am still confused as to what actually leads to the issues. Is it the diameter or the weight that causes the issues of a combination of both?

Thanks...

Both.

More rolling mass(weight) puts more stress on your drivetrain components.

More size(height of tire) means more leverage. More leverage puts more stress on your drivetrain components.

About spring time I will need to buy new tires. My current tires are heavy Nitto Trail Grapplers. I am finding that with some other brands I can get them about 1.5" taller overall height and they would still be lighter than the Nitto's.
