35's Upgrade

I know there are a lot of questions and answers about upgrading to 35's; but I was unable to find the answer to my particular situation. I am currently running
LT 285 70R 17 Duratracs on 17x9 Rockstars with 4.5 backspacing. My JK is sitting on a Zone 2 in coil spacer lift. All threads suggest a minimum of 2.5 lift or trim fenders. Most of the Jeeps I've seen with 35's and 2.5 in lifts also have aftermarket bumpers and winches. My question is: Wouldn't a 2 in lift with stock bumpers and 35's be the same as a 2.5 in lift with aftermarket bumpers and winches with 35's or at least very close functionally? Thanks...

most suspension lifts yield more lift than they claim. so after the accessories are added, they will have the lift amount that they claim.

spacer lifts do not do this. they give exactly the amount of lift that they claim. so once bumpers and winches are added, you will be lower than the 2" of lift that you initially got.

but to answer your main question. a JK will clear 35" tires with no lift. so with your 2" spacer lift you should be fine. you just won't have the clearance like a JK with a 2.5" spring lift will have. you will also want longer bump stops to keep your tires out of your fenders at full flex.

Bump stops, trimming, and backspacing are what let tires clear. Lift just gets you off the bump stops.
