Wheel Question, Max Size Tire on Steel Soft 8s

Hello, haven't posted much on this forum but I try to look for answers before I post questions.

Unfortunately I couldn't find an answer to this.

I have 2013 JKU Sport, 2.5" RE Lift and 1" Body Lift and am currently running 35" Fierce Attitude Tires on 17x8 soft 8s(no name brand wheel, eBay). On the inner part of the wheel where it lists max weight and all that good stuff it states "Do Not Mount A Tire Larger Than 35".

Not sure if anybody can answer this buy why can't I? Are steel wheels not safe for larger than 35" tires or is a tire over 35" just too much for the wheel? I was really planning on 37" tires in the future and hate to be spending money on wheels, guess my question is is it safe to run 37" tires on these rims?

Thank you in advance and sorry the noob question.

I think you'd get better response if the subject were '17" wheel says 35" max tire size, any idea why?' or something along those lines.

As to the specific question, no idea there.. I've never heard that one but I don't buy rims often.

Centerline has a wheel I love but it is rated 33" max size, has to do with the weight of the tire.

That's rather odd, tire weights are all over the place. 33" doesn't seem like a correct specification for weight as load range, width.. too many other factors. If it has something to do with tire weight you'd think they'd say x pounds.

I agree, a wheel tech may know more, may have something to do with rotational weight. 38" tire weighing 70 pounds puts more stress on a wheel that say a 35" tire weighing the same. Just guessing on that last part.
