Chimney rock trail and camping 24 Nov 12

Ok right on the heels of the parsons grove camping trip and before we wake up with snow on the tent. Going to run the chimney rock trail and then camp out at chimney rock the night of the 24th. Probably meet at 8 am head out at 8:30 am. Run the trail then play at chimney rock then camp out. If you are just interested in running the trail thats fine too.

So a Thanksgiving weekend run and camping outage to Chimney Rock?
Tempting...very tempting...

I'll have to see how Parson's goes, and if I can talk my fiancee into another camping trip. LOL

I'm pretty sure that's the plan as I understand it.

yep start way out around mile marker 18 then head west along the trail. Maybe run up to Alamo springs as well since it is right there and I have never taken that turn.

Well you could do Los Alamos with us this Friday night. We are gonna meet at Circle K somewhere between 5-6pm then head out. We enter on the west Chimney loop then drop down into the wash and peel off from there. Haven't set the exact meet time at Circle K but probably will do that on Thursday.

I know you gotta work this weekend so I tried to make it as early an evening run as possible for you, but also for others to attend after they get off work later if they wanted to.

Yes this is still on meet at the Circle K at 8:00 air down disconnect and head out at 8:30. For those that want this will be a camping trip as well. For those that don't want to camp you can play and head home.

Rumor has it that Catfish will be bringing lots of beer after this weekend.

If you need a space to do it and it helps out you can do it at my place, just pm me. Chimney should be fun so you don't want to miss out on it.

Ok just so you know, in case of a lack of details, we are not going straight to Chimney rock. We are going to the east entrance around mile marker 18 and running the chimney rock trail east to west, ending up at chimney rock and those that want to play around and leave can do that and those that want to play around and camp get to do that as well.

Provided we leave from the Circle K at 0830 about how long will it take to get to the Chimney Rock play ground? Trying to plan things so the whole family can come with me. I have only been the back way in and that was a couple weeks ago. Jon if you are planning on heading in a little later in the day to meet everyone there I might tag along with you if thats alright.

We should be at the trail head around 9:15. I would say that we will be at chimney rock no later than 3:00. But there are too many variables involved like if we get 40 vehicles out there that will slow things down. We are also gonna make the run up to alamo springs off of chimney rock trail at the same time.

That's another reason I'd like to just get to chimney rock the easy way and then go from there.
