parsons grove exploration 16th 17th november

Ok boys and girls. We are heading up to Parsons Grove on the rug road on the 16th and 17th of November. Most of us know where that is located at but for those that do not. It is about 3 hours or so east of Mammoth. There is an old cinder block house there. That is where we will be camping on the night of the 16th. The morning of the 17th we will head north from there and explore some of the trails/roads that are in that area. We may return back to tucson on the afternoon/night of the 17th. But we may stay the night of the 17th in parsons grove or nearby area.

meet at 4:00pm 16 November at golder ranch road and oracle, head to mammoth for top off of tanks and then head up copper canyon road.

Open to reccomendations on staying the night of the 17th in parsons grove.

Ok well let me get this straight. You want to pull out Friday at 4 to take a 3 hr trip and set up camp in the dark in a spot of lurking large mosquitos and other biting things ( some still have the scars.)

Noe if you were to go Saturday morning you could get to the grove, explore the road, camp somewhere in the middle of the afternoon and be good to go the next day..

Well, plus we have a realator party we have to attend in Tucson on Friday so we couldn't make it, but thats ok if you need to go Friday I'm sure some one can remember the way.....

Well if it's the difference of you making the trip, leaving Saturday morning would be fine for us too. Just thought it would be fun to campout away from everything a couple of nights.

The other option I suppose would be that Catfish, Meg and I along with anyone else wanting an extra night could head out Friday afternoon too and just hang out at the cabin till you and Jim arrived on Saturday morning.

Either way we will have fun so I guess we'll see how this plays out. Cat what are your thoughts on Friday vs Saturday?

Pretty sure it's gonna be too chilly out in the evening for the skeeters to be buzzing us and hopefully the gnats too. They may be a little active in the daytime but I kind of doubt it. Wear long sleeves though just to be sure.

New rule #3 officially noted.

I petition for addendum to new rule #3: Sub-rule 3.1 should read; No drunk inflatables around the campfire unless such inflatables are filled with warm, non-combustible liquid heated to a temperature of no less than 98.6 degrees fahrenheit.

Also have you seen that the road you want to explore goes a very long way and dead ends at some corrals?

There are a couple of off shoots to that road. If you keep following it to the right there looks to be a bad spot to cross which just happens to have a huge drop off. But it dead ends as well. I believe there are 2 offshoots to the left of that road and those both dead end as well. So it will just turn into a drink fest and rule 3.1 will be enforced.

We're in....

My thoughts are its going to be fargin freezin and that should keep the buggers to a minimum. Also I am happy to go early play and fire up the grill. This time instead of ribs think I'll bring some smoked turkey as a side to those fugly steaks....gobble gobble

of course with two nights we could still head out through the creek.....

Ok Cat, we'll have to figure out the particulars and all. If your coming to the mod party on the 10th we can hash it out then. Should be fun and yes a little cold too

No sheep, Murray gets too excited and wants to drive all over the trail.

Well yes, as long as he is sober.. But if the blow up sheep is along, then no worries... But then again Meg will hopefully be along to keep him under control...
