Aug. 11th Jeep Mod Party and Meet and Greet

I know most of you already know about this and plan on attending but I wanted to make a dedicated thread for it so that we know exactly who is coming and all the details.

I'm hosting a Jeep Mod Party and Meet and Greet at my house on the East side Saturday August 11th. You can arrive as early at 0600 and I encourage anyone doing big jobs to show up early. Others that are helping or just hanging out are free to arrive when they can, but it will get hot early so keep that in mind. If you are coming and you don't know how to get to my house please PM me for the address.

I'd like everyone to list if they are coming and what special tools or skills they plan on bringing. Also if you are doing work to your Jeep please list what you are wanting to do so we can get a good game plan on what order to do everything in. Also we need to chip in a little cash for the Pizzas. Not sure how much but I'm sure Murray will chime in with an amout eventually.

Murray has arranged for us to get 5 extra large Pizzas from Eclectic Pizza delivered to my house. I have a large cooler but it will be BYOB and drinks and if you want to bring any other snacks like chips and pretzels or whatever feel free to bring it.

I will start with my mods that I hope to complete in order of importance

Synergy Ball Joints - Have to get these done
Synergy C-Gussets - Might as well do them with the ball joints
Artec Axle Truss - Would love to get this on but may not be able to in one day of work.

I have a floor jack and 4 jack stands and a transmission jack, 80 gallon air compressor and a lot of basic hand tools and some specialty tools like torque wrench and air tools and large axle sockets, extension cords, industrial fan, sawzall, drill and a few other items.

So lets get a good list of what is actually going to be done to what Jeeps and whos coming and who's not. I have room for as many people that want to show up. Space and parking is of no issue.

I look forward to a fun day of work and hanging out with some fellow Jeepers.

So far the attendee list is:

Me - SVTManiac - Ball Joints, C Gussets and Axle truss, Trac Bar mount
Uncle Sams Misguided Child - Helper
M&M's - Ball Joints, C Gussets, Sleeves and LCA skids
RockWraith - Lift Kit
11jeeperdrummer - C Gussets, Fenders
JKennedy - Helper
Catfish - Helper
Randyd - Helper
Freaky - Helper
Licoln Hawk - Helper
JKChris - Helper

You can live in your Jeep, but you can't off-road your house.

I'll be there.

Bringing;
Floor jack.
4 medium jack stands.
2 large jack stands.
Air tools; Impact driver, wrench, saw (hope it works), die grinder w/ misc pads.
Big fan.
Couple of extension cords.
Lights just in case we need them.
My welder and helmet, extension cord, couple of breakers.
4 1/2" elect. grinder, some cut off blades and grinding blades.
Misc. bag of tools, wrenches, sockets, pliers, hammers, etc..

And whatever else I said I would bring on the other thread. I can bring a spare compressor too if you thought it would help. Shade would be really nice too. Anyone have some of those 10x10 or 12x12 pop up canopies? If so please bring them. I have some large cardboard pieces I will bring too.

And yes, getting a head count would be good. I will need it to order the pizza. Also need to know what everyone likes. Go to the website and see what looks good to you; http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...1opjcw&cad=rja

I will be installing ball joints, axle sleeves, c-gussets and front lower control arm skid plates.

Also if you guys are bringing a wife / gf / escort please list them so we can get a solid headcount.

Head count may vary depending if Jim still has the shovel and lyme in his jeep when he shows up.

Guess it's a good thing Ken isn't here then. Herpes should be kept to a minimum.

Unless I'm mistaken, he is putting my old lift on. I just finished boxing everything up to bring to the party.

Hey guys looks like we will have a good turnout and a lot of work to do. I'm going to try and have my axle out before Saturday but I was curious if having it out would make the ball joint install harder? Also will I need to open up the diff and drain it before we weld the truss on?

You don't need to drain the diff. Might wanna open the fill plug when we are done and take a sample to see how it looks.

Interesting thought on the ball joints though. I think having the axle on the jeep would be better and that it wouldn't be flopping all around while putting torque on to get the old ones out.

Yeah that was my thought on doing the ball joint with the Axle out as well. Which sucks cause we could save a lot of time if I could pull it out in advance.

I say axle out to install the truss, then install the axle and change out the ball joints. I don't remember, were you doing c's also?

Yes doing C's as well. So axle out, truss and C's welded on. Axle in and then ball joints?

This may end up being a really long day that goes into the night. So if you guys have shit you want to burn we can fire up a big bon fire.

I think so. But if you can take the ball joints out before you remove the axle that would be cool. Axle out is just gonna make the welding so much easier. I'd bring my welding table but it weighs about 1200lbs so not gonna happen.

What do you think Jim.

I would take them out first but I don't have the tool to press them out. Honestly if I can get the C's and the BJ's on I will be happy. The truss can wait a little bit. Not like I wheel very hard right now anyway. I don't have time to do much of anything lately.

I say bonfire all green jeeps. We might be able to get the new joints back in while axle is out of jeep. The hardest part is getting the old ones out.

Looks like I need to bring my cot to take a nap.

Yeah I'd be happy to get a BJ done too. Sounds like we may all get lucky if Jim's bringing a cot.

or this one

Go look in the writeup section and see what Doc has to say. I can't watch vids at work.
