CK next month

Those of you who also belong to AZVJC know that their 14th annual run to CK is happening next month on Saturday the 25th. I love this run, but the groups are getting too huge. So far, the largest group is leaving the airdown spot at 9AM with 20+ jeeps!

I want to make a weekend out of it, so I want to head up there Friday evening (the 24th). Camp Friday and Saturday; come home Sunday morning. I'll be bringing my son along, Ben is bringing his boy, and I believe Ben's dad will be tagging along in his new-to-him TJ (if it's not still having issues).

Anybody else wanna come along? Unfortunately, I have to work on Friday but I'll leave work (101/Cave Creek) at 2:30. I'm thinking this will put me at the airdown spot at about 3-3:15 (it's roughly 32 miles from my work). There's no reason I can't be in CK and setting up camp well before dark.

How about you Tony? Will you still be around to go?

I'm not sure if "jkfamily" is a member over here or not, but he's the one who invited me to run with him up to CK on Friday and make a weekend out of it. We're planning on leaving airdown no later than 4PM if anyone's interested in joining. I should be there a little earlier than though. If everyone shows up a little early, we could always leave once everyone's accounted for.

Gonna be an awesome, relaxing weekend...I hope...lol.

I just went with the AZ Krawlers. Good trail and a great time. Took us six hours to make the journey with 11 rigs. Can't imagine 20+ rigs. For a dirt road it sure is quite a trek up there.

Maybe next time, I'll be out of town that weekend.

No sign of the fire until you get to CK, you can see the burned areas north of town. Senator highway is closed, for up to two years according to the bartender.

Ben, since you'll be picking up Wyatt at my place while I'm at work, feel free to swing by the house the night before and load what you can into my jeep (since I'll be the only person in mine, I'll have more room for gear).

Slight update; we'll be leaving the airdown spot no later than 4PM. If everyone is there and accounted for, we can always leave a few minutes early. Another member on the VJC website actually invited me to do this run with him (he says he's registered here, but has only been on once or twice and can't remember his password), and he was willing to hang out at the airdown spot until 4PM for us.

I'm sure I can get there by 3:15 or so though.
