visit to Sedona - need guidance

My first post in the AZ section - I am planning a family vacation trip to Sedona AZ over the Presidents Day long weekend and looking for some advice on must visit places in Sedona. I visited Sedona in 2008 and fell in love with the natural beauty. I did not have my Jeep then and had made a decision to re-visit after seeing so many rental places and Jeep tours.

Are there places/spots/trails I must visit? I had heard of the "staircase" and "point of no return" but looking to get some feedback.
Thanks in advance.

Best bet would be to go see Nena at Barlow jeep rentals. She'll hook you up with maps and advise on what trails to run, plus she is a vendor/sponsor here.

Lots of great trails in Sedona! Broken Arrow and Soldiers pass are great, and are the only two I've done.

Definitely go talk to the nice people at Barlow's they gave us a map and answered any ?s we had about trails and the area in general. Don't expect a lot of great wheeling but the scenery is worth the trip!

The trails there arent very difficult, except for the stairs on Broken Arrow, but as the others have said they are scenic. Take your time, take lots of pictures, heck get out of the jeep and do a little hiking, either way Sedona is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the replies...I will definitely look up Nena at Barlow Jeep. I ordered the GoPro Hero to document the trip. Come on FedEx. I am checking the status of shipment every two hours!

I have a friend of mine from Phoenix joining with his Jeep Commander so we will definitely be doing the scenic trails on Sunday. However, I will be looking for some challenging spots along the way though and on Saturday.

Any experiences with the vortex spots?

Try to find:

Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails by Charles A. Wells

It's a great resource for trails all over the state, and has good directions in the trail descriptions.

Awesome visit to Sedona

Back from Sedona safe and sound. We did the Broken Arrow and the Staircase trail during our first day. The second day we visited the Devils Kitchen sink hole and the Airport energy vortex. We had a blast. Check out some of the videos I posted on YouTube. They are listed under vipster4x4.
Thanks

Looks like a good time! Can't believe you actually got rain - that's like the second time this year...

The staircase is a hoot in a Power Wagon! Looking forward to doing it in the new JKUR soon.

Nice videos. It look like you had a good time there. Can't wait to go to Sedona again myself.
