Got a CEL

Anyone have anything that can tell me what it is? Can a superchips diagnose what the code is?

Any Autozone will scan it for free and tell you what the code is. Then just post it up here and we can help you out.

You can live in your Jeep, but you can't off-road your house.

If you have a Superchips tuned to your Jeep it will tell you. However, it won't work if you use a Superchips linked to someone else's Jeep.

Or you can go to Autozone for free.

My guess without a code is:
Gas cap or nvld.
Get factory if it is either one of those.
PM me if you need anything.

So got it checked at Auto Zone. Said EVAP small leak detected. Tried re-tightening the fuel cap, no luck.

How long has it been since you tightened it? It's not an immediate fix, if the code was not cleared it can take several days to check and clear itself.

I think loose cap will show "gas cap" in the odo.

Just today. It runs vaccum tests randomly?

On the diagnostic reciept Auto Zone printed says: Defective/loose/missing fuel cap, evaporate canister broke/hose cracked/not connected, purge or vent solenoid defective, vacuum leak at engine

The CEL description you're getting from the VatoZone code scanner is a generic P code that has been attached to an even more generic description on the Bear machine they're using so the counter guy can make sense of it.

The evaporative system on most OBDII vehicles has the most involved monitor cycle out of any of the systems on board. It takes several full trip cycles (key on, ignition, drive, stop, key off) to reset that monitor CEL. I would pull the negative and positive cables for approx. five minutes and take a few round trip drives before getting worried.

Also, check your evap canister for obvious damage or cracks. You did do the "sit and spin" several times two weekends ago and you may have walked onto something in the ruts without knowing it and damaged it.

Oh, and by the way, if it continues or comes back I have a CanBus compliant code scanner that I can use to help narrow down the issue. I still need to get with you for the Midland CB as well, maybe a two for one trip...

CEL has disappeared. Could have been the gas cap thing. About 3 days after I tightened it.
