Alternate Off-Roading In Vegas (Hiking)

Some friends and I are doing lots of hiking around Vegas lately (for fun and health). The plan is to try to go at least every other weekend. If anybody is ever interested in going along (we also rideshare to save on gas), just let me know. I post the plans on facebook but will post them here also if some interest is shown.

Here is some info on last weekends excersion:

Bristlcone Trail (near Lee ski area), 6 miles round trip, approximately 3 hours, the temp never went over 80 the whole time! Nice trail that is kid and dog friendly.

We're going to the same area this Saturday. Meeting at the Draft House parking lot around 9AM.

Nelson has some cool old mines, buildings and such you can certainly drive a Jeep to. I'd imagine you could hike it

Not sure if you have done it yet, but if you take Harris Spring road, it dead ends at the Griffith Peak trailhead. This allows you to get some good Jeep time on the trail and a nice hike.

We did it a few weeks back, but we had time restraints and only made it to the crossover where you can see down to Kyle Canyon/ Mt Charleston.

It is pretty scenic because it is in the open and you get to see the south side of the mtn that backs up against Red Rock.

I've done the drive but not the hike.

Another good one is the road at the back of Red Rock.

We are hiking again this Sat. Dinner & drinks at my place that eve. If you can read this you're invited. Kids too. We are meeting at 9AM at the Draft House parking lot. The hike is at Mt. Charleston and will either be Mummy Springs or Echo Cave. Haven't decided yet.

Hiking again this Saturday. Open invite. Meet @ 9am in Red Rock casino front parking lot. The hike will be La Madre Springs at the back of Red Rock. After the hike we might go over Rocky Gap Road just for shits and giggles! If anybody posts or PMs me by 8am I will pack an extra cigar and a few beers for them.
