Soft Top Question

Hey gang as i have never had a soft top this big i am not sure how relevent the straps that run the length of the top are. I am refering to the big thick straps (maybe 4"-6" wide) that run from the front of the top to the back on the driver and passenger sides. I ask as i got in my rig this AM and the decided to flip the freedom top open and noticed the strap on the passenger side is no longer attached at the front...didnt look at it closely yet to see if it frayed or was cut but i am curious if it is A) Important to have B) Fixable (say at a upholstery shop)......

Thanks gang

Those straps keep the back of the top tight and reduce flapping. You can run around just fine with them broke but they are easy to fix. I used some flat washers and new pop rivets to secure mine and if you need new strap material you should be able to find it at a fabric store.

Happened to the passenger side of mine about a year after I got it. Dealer fixed it with bigger rivets, and did both sides, under warranty. I guess I got lucky.
