Michigan Area EJS Moab trip

This thread is going to serve as the main information point for organizing our trip to Moab for EJS 2012.

So far the dates (as yet to be firmed up) are: March 30th departure and return April 7th or 8th.
We're looking to stay in one, two or three condos depending on how many folks come along with us.

Current List of participants.
Arlin
Ryan
Kevin
Jamie - separately = We'll meet Jamie out there.
Craig
Manny
Scotty

Anyone else that is going, post up and I'll modify the OP.

Please note, those that are going, we're going to be organizing very soon on accommodations and want to have it booked by end of next week at the latest. We don't want to miss out on booking this because I'm quite sure it'll be pretty cold to sleep in the jeep at night or a campground. I'd prefer a house.

What is the cost to participate on the trail runs? I thought I read that Red Rock charges per day or run. Trying to get the budget done (housing, food, gas, activities).

I'll read up on it.
Here's the opening paragraph from the sign up form.
"Fill in all pertinent information below; then indicate your trail preferences on the TRAIL PREFERENCES
CHART. Based on the number of days you plan to attend, figure out your fee ($50 for one day, $40. for each
additional day, Up to $370 for nine days). A confirmation showing trail reservations will be mailed to you.
You must still confirm your attendance at the registration desk and pick up your registration packet (to get
vehicle identification sticker, desk plaques, pennants, etc.). Please review the refund policy in this newspaper
before you commit your fee."
So, if we wheel for 9 days = $370.

More info for those going that didn't make it to the red rock 4 wheelers web site.
I'm on the mailing list and should be receiving the 2012 sign up sheets soon.
I've got some questions in to the organizers as well to help understand multi-vehicle sign ups so we get stuck together (preferential)

Here's a trail sheet link.

I believe so. If we had 10 jeeps going, it might be a bit harder.
we may also be going on some other rides as well, but I figure it's mandatory we pay to reserve a back up plan just in case those don't work out.

Not sure why it would matter on a Sunday since it is a line that is ONLY for the use of Ryan (me) and I am the only one that has the leader access code...so...if you aren't comfortable using my line, I can set up one through that website I guess...?

I am okay with leaving Saturday. We should try to be somewhere in Iowa or even Nebraska at the end of the first day and grab a hotel for the night. 700 miles at an average of 65mph, we will need approx 10.75 hours of driving. We can do better that though. I'd like to roll into Moab at the end of Sunday if possible. Getting condo keys, unpacking and such might be a pita at dusk/nightfall, but if we left early Sunday morning, we'd be there at a decent hour. We need 26 hours driving total from Detroit, MI to Moab, UT.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll discuss parts of this on Sunday night.

First off, I like 65mph... so much better mpg then 70-75.

If we do 10.75 hour Sat, that leaves 15.25 Sun? I think Lincoln or Grand Island, Nebraska might be a good stopping point about 1/2 way.

How many people total (for condo size Ryan is looking into)?

I agree. See what we can find for a hotel between Omaha and Denver.

Yeah, my math is off tonight. I should start drinking or something.
Let's do 14-15 hours on the first day. We may even make it to CO.
