Event at the Cliffs

ZORTCC Cruise Night Event Info.

About Roamer Cruise Night - Held in downtown Streator on Main Street each Labor Day weekend, this family event brings over 600 restored and antique cars and features its namesake 1917 Roamer automobile. The largest automotive event in downstate Illinois attracts spectators numbering between 15 -20,000. It's a time of nostalgia, camaraderie, and good old-fashioned fun. The Event is Hosted by The Dream Machines Car Club.

ZORTCC – The Zombie Outbreak Response Team of Champaign County is a relatively new off-roading club based in central Illinois in Champaign County. While it predominantly consists of jeeps, they are open to any and all off-road vehicles.

Brief Overview – The Event will begin Saturday September 3rd in Streator. Registration for Roamer Cruise Night begins at noon and lasts until 7pm. The cost is 10 dollars. Once each participant registers for Roamer Cruise Night they then will need to make a stop off at Cheapseats Bar and Grill located on Main Street between 2 and 6pm. There is no cost to register with the ZORTCC and you automatically get entered into the raffle. Here they will be given a wristband that will be used for discounted entry and camping at The Cliffs Insane Terrain and a raffle ticket for the drawing. The entire downtown area will be roped off and all the shops and bars will have open doors and everyone basically bounces around checking out all the cars. Participants are free to do as they wish, however Cheapseats is extending their parking lot to us for “4x4 parking only.” Here you will find most of the jeeps parking and you can check out everyone’s set up. The drawing will be held at Cheapseats around 10pm. Participants must be present to win. Every store and bar will be extremely busy so it is strongly suggested to make your way there early enough to get inside. The final list of sponsors donating to the event is not yet complete, but some of the verified contributors are 4WD.com, Discount Tire Direct, Superchips, Rough Country Suspensions, The Cliffs Insane Terrain, Palko’s BP, Donahue Auto Repair and Cheapseats. Participants are responsible for finding their own lodging that night. There are hotels available in town, but due to the size of the event they fill up fast and early. There are also hotels in Ottawa, Illinois which is between Streator and Marseilles and about a 15 minute drive from the car show. I have included information on them. The Dream Machine Car Club will also be holding a raffle on Sunday for a 1966 Ford Mustang or $5,000 cash, winners choice.

Sunday September 4th we will be meeting at The Cliffs Insane Terrain at 9am and will ride trails until 5pm and then break for dinner. We may possibly have a night run that evening around 10pm but we will need at least 10 participants to register ahead of time.

Monday September 5th many participants will again hit the trails and enjoy the day.

Are you coming for the car show event and wheelign the next day? If so.. you will want to get a hotel room in Streator on saturday night. thats when the large car show and give aways are. You are going to want to book a room ASAP. The car show basically doubles the population of the town for one night so they fill up fast. You are going to want to try and avoid driving back and forth between Streator and Ottawa/Marsailles Saturday night because the city and state police watch for people drag racing/drunk drivers outside of town. Basically during the car show the entire downtown area is roped off and people just bounce from bar to bar checking out over 600 cars. Myself and some other people are planning on camping out Sunday night after wheeling. As far as booze is concerned at the cliffs campground I was told that it was allowed as long as we kept it under control. That came from Corban himself. I will recheck that with him and let you know.

I asked Corban for anyone who is signing up for the ZORTCC event. Remember the deals for the cliffs only count for sunday and monday as far as wheeling goes. Last I checked, hotels in streator we running about 60-80 bucks for the night for a room with 2 queen beds. And yes.. thats a lot more expensive than the camping prices. I am going to call him in about an hour or so to get clarification.

I am staying in streator on friday and saturday night and only camping out sunday night after wheeling. Reason being is that I am running the event so I will have a lot of event stuff to finish up friday night. I will also be handling the registration saturday during the day at cheapseats for the ZORTCC. Basically what you will have to do is register for cruise night at the streator city park and then come to cheapseats and I will give you a wristband and a raffle ticket. then you can basically bar hop all night and check out the cars and party. another reason you will want a hotel room in streator. then sunday we are going to meet up and head to the cliffs.

Oh.. and also I talked to Corban about booze/beer at the cliffs again. he said that people are allowed to drink while camping there, however if you take one sip of beer than you cant get out on a trail. No exceptions. So basically, just dont get lit up and you will be fine. I would book a hotel room in streator for saturday september 3rd as soon as you can. They dont last very long usually.

actually.. no. We are camping at the actual Cliffs Park. Its not really a designated campground. We just set it up there because then it prevents everyone from having to pack up their stuff and move it to another location after wheeling. if you call the cliffs and talk to corban he can give you more detailed information about it. The cliffs isnt a fancy camp ground by any means, but there are places to set up tents and pop up campers and what not. That might be why you had all the confusion about the booze rule.
