Michigander getting back into jku world

Hey Gang. I used to hang out here a few years ago, but switched things up and was doing the Harley thing for little while. ..I'm getting back to the JKU world...I was NOT EVEN thinking about selling my little GTI and buying a different car, let alone a jeep wrangler a month ago. The reason I'm changing my tune and wanting to buy a jeep wrangler is the wrangler with the top off and doors off and being able to customize the piss out of it is the closest vehicle I could get to the free riding feeling and customization... Like a Harley. Look, I know everyone has a story. And now I’m going to tell you my story. Lol. …Now stay with me…there is a point to my story….lol. On June 3rd a month ago, on a Friday morning I was on my way to work, I was on my 2005 customized Harley Road Glide at a complete stop when I was rear ended by a Ram pickup truck…no brake squeal, no warning. He hit me hard enough that it knocked my helmet off and then launched me forward over my handlebars and my bare head broke the back glass of the car in front of me. I never lost consciousness. I could get to my knees but that was it. I ended up lucky though, (I know. LUCKY? Right?) That I only broke 3 bones in my back. One bone T11 towards the middle of the back had to have spinal fusion surgery by a neurosurgeon to prevent possible paralysis and the others (L1, L2) are having to heal on their own. I was in the hospital for 7 days, my right shoulder was also very sore and it was hard to lift my arm past my chest… I have had my first follow up with the neurosurgeon on June 21rst and he tells me I won’t be start physical therapy for at least a month and that I'm probably not going back to work for at least 2 to 3 months. And that I need to follow up with orthopedic Dr. about my shoulder. On Wednesday June 29th last week the orthopedic Dr. tells me that I need to have ANOTHER surgery on my right shoulder for a badly torn rotator cuff…Which now brings me back to my sweet little GTI…key word “little”, it hurts like hell to get in and out of my “little” GTI since my back surgery. My back Dr. said it will probably be like that for up to a year or more with as low at my car sits to the ground… So that brings me back around to a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I'm looking for used 2013-2015 stock, automatic that I will put a lift on, probably go with 33's and rear gear...I'm in Michigan northern suburb of Detroit. if anyone out there know of a reputable shop in South East Michigan. please let me know..

Welcome back! Im so sorry to hear about your accident, we have a 2013 street glide. Its a lot of fun but I see more and more accidents in our area involving motorcycles. Sounds like you are pretty fortunate, glad you're okay. Hope you find a good wrangler and if you need parts at a good price message me and we can get you what you are looking!!

For the re-gear, Drive Train Specialistss on Groesbeck just south of 11 mile. Hands down the best people I've EVER dealt with. I have no connection to them other than a satisfied customer.

Unlimited Offroad is a good shop in Fenton.

Glad you are (mostly) okay.

Glad you're ok and getting better. I retired my CBR1000RR a couple years ago and put it in storage because of the roads and drivers here in the Detroit area. What about AEV?
