I'd like to make a trip over there next spring. Fall is pretty booked up... when do they close the park?

I have run most of the trails at the Badlands in basically a non modded X so have at it. Most of the trails are pretty cake or have a bypass on the hard stuff.

The Badlands does not close. It is open all winter.

I actually enjoy winter wheeling there better because you don't have to deal with so many ATVs and dirt bikes buzzing around.

Good to know, thanks.

my first "experience" with offroading was with a John Deere Gator down at the family farm. Wasn't til I got my old TJ that I tried anything street-legal, but even with just mud-tires I took everything the Gator could do without even switching to 4wd. The only real frustration with the JK's now is that they are so wide that the Gator trails leave me with branches and whatnot hanging out to scratch the sides.

Jeeps Gone Wild is having an open run August 15 at the Badlands. If you wanted to swing down they are a decent group of guys to get acclimated with the easy trails. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=829997 BTW I am 5cents on that site.

Sounds great but I'm double booked that day already and am not sure how much time I could be there for. Some In-Law family auction near Lafayette that I'm supposed to go to. Guess I'd be in the area and might get the wife down to the badlands. Looks like the auction starts @ 9:30 in Camden, about 45 minutes northeast of there.

Don't have a radio but could grab the orange flags before then. I'll try to let you know if I might be able to make it.

I live in southern Illinois but grew up in South Holland & NW Indiana. I don't know for sure where they meet up at before the last meeting spot which I believe is the Lincoln Oasis off of 294. If you want to confirm convoy routes I would PM Awillard69 or TheEddie I think they both could help you out with that.
