NJ member possible transplant to FL

So as the title says I currently live in NJ, but my fiance got a job offer in the Tampa are of FL and I figured I'd reach out to some of you guys and see your opinions on FL and if there are any members on here in the Tampa area that might have suggestions on areas around there to look at houses that arent million dollar mansions but also arent so hood that I need to carry an AR-15 on me at all times.

Thanks to all the FL JKO! Kinda looking forward to living down there.

You can pretty much steal a house around the Tampa Area now. There are plenty of very nice houses is very good areas around the $200,000 mark. I personally like the East Lake/Palm Harbor Area. But, if you want to carry an AR-15 just for fun, the gun lawns are very lax here!

I have family in the Tampa St. Pete area and I absolutly love it down there. And the gun laws are awesome in comparison to NJ gun laws. Ive already applied for a few jobs to get myself started. Id idealy like to stay in the same career field as I am in now being a FF/EMT but I'd need to be Florida state certified prior to applying and thats a process.
Other than the gun laws and having family in the area, I just need to get the F**k out of NJ and the winters here.

Not too sure on the job although the current governor is dead set on reducing the state budget. Anyone paid by state funds is subject to cuts. I assume EMT/Fire is state right? I am a teacher, we have faced many cuts...and no pay raise for 5 years.

Yeah the public safety departments are always targets but I know down there it isn't as bad as up here. One of the city FDs up here laid off half of their manpower in one round of cuts.

I love Florida. I have a lot of family down there and I have been going down every year several times a year. And as far as the traffic I think the q-tips do a good enough job screwing it up themselves. I have a few interviews in the Tampa area in May and June so we'll see how that plays out. The wifey is an RN so her getting a job should be like taking candy from a blind and retarded baby.

Hey just moved from Flemington NJ a little over a year ago. You will not look back!

Obama's EPA just shut down your favorite ORV trail.
