Trabuco Creek Rd trail report, vehicle recovery and theft

I got a call from a Jeep owner this morning. While helping a stuck vehicle, he got stuck himself and was asking for assistance. I headed up to meet his crew this afternoon.

First off, Trabuco Creek Rd. is in the worst shape that I've ever seen. The potholes are terrible. Guess I should get used to it, as our gov'ment is out of money and we should see the same on the freeways soon.

I found these guys on the road that goes up the hill from the canyon. The one on the left a bit past the air field. There was a JK, two TJ's and an H1. These guys are all from the same club. This road is pretty slick and tricky right now. The JK is a 6 week old 2-door Rubi. It had slid over the edge last night and I believe was being held up by a sizable bush. By the time we arrived this afternoon, it had been fairly well stripped. All three seats were in the middle of the trail. The battery had been disconnected. One door was missing and the other was in the middle of the trail. Everything from the center console had been taken. Given all the parts in the middle of the road indicate that the thieves had been uninterrupted - hopefully by the police. As of the time that I left, the owner had not had a chance to report the crime.

If anybody finds a black front door for sale, please let me know.

When did the theft happen? I would swear I saw someone on here selling a single door the other day. Possibly a different color though.

The theft happened last night, or this morning.

That sucks. I will keep my eyes open. And after reading this, if I ever get stuck I am sleeping in the jeep with my mossberg.
