Anza-Borrego Desert State Park proposed for closing.

The Press-Enterprise, Saturday, May 30th,2009 Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is on the list of state parks that officials say could be closed under proposed budget cuts announced Friday by Arnald Schwarzenegger's administration. The article did say that the only parks that would be spared from closure would be off-highway vehicle areas that generate more money than it costs to maintain them, said H.D. Palmer, deputy director of the State Finance Department. Does anyone have any more information on this?

REVOLT!

The Government is SUPPOSED to listen to it's constituents

I lived in Borrego from 89-93 and that is all that they really have for attractions to support the town. Aside from the resorts.

Fawking libs ruining our country one piece at a time.

Phase 1 Complete. Sold JK
Phase 2 Complete. Bought a Tow Rig
Phase 3 on-hold. Buying a trail rig. Thinking a TJ or XJ

Anza Borrego S.P.

The closing of the park was announced on San Diego TV. I would not worry to much about it. The things like the visitors center and campgrounds will be closed. The park is too wide open to close it down. The areas with gates like upper and lower Coyote canyon will be closed because they have gates. You will lose the ranger present and paroling, this makes you responsible for yourself.

You will see other state parks closed by the entrance gates. This is a shame but we have to control spending.
