2N17X to Dishpan and Beyond Sunday May 31, 2009

Sorry for the double post, I didn't realize Southern Cali had its own sub-forum.

Trails to be conquered (in Order): 2N17X, Dishpan Springs and John Bull.

Meeting Time:6:00am

Meeting Date:Sunday, May 31, 2009

Meeting Location: Start of 2N17X

This is definitely an early start. I want to smell the fresh scent of wheat in the air. I want the cold breeze to make it feel like a cold hunting morning out in Bakersfield. I need to relax and offroad through the mountains. Above all, I need to conquer these three trails all in the same day.

This has been done before so don't ask how it's possible.

Incase your wondering what route we will take, here are the directions of travel...

Start at 2N17X from Lake Silverwood at the entrance of Pilot Rock Rd, up 2N17x towards Pilot Rock headed towards Lake Arrowhead Hwy173, from hwy173 we'll drive onroad to Hook Creek rd (6 miles) straight to Dishpan, Up Dishpan we'll get to Crab Flats Campground, then we'll take 3N16 towards John BUll to run it West to East (my prefered way).

Crazy?! Ofcourse! Will we do it? Absolutely!

All are welcome. Let's do it!

Bash -

I just did 2/3rds of this run on Saturday (30th). We met at 9:30 am in Cedar Glen (Hook Creek Rd & CA-173). Between Dishpan & John Bull (w to e), including TRAFFIC, we finished at 6:30 pm. There was a group of mall-crawler Range Rovers stuck on J.B. That probably added at least an hour and a half to the trip.

I'd be wiling to join you on a run like you had planned if it was on a Friday or a Saturday.

That's been done plenty of times.

2N17X ends at hwy 173. You can take hwy 173 to Dishpan srpings which is only six miles. After you finish Dishpan, you'll take 3N16 to John Bull which is half an hour of dirt road driving = a full days of some great wheeling

I've never wheeled 2N17X, so I'd like to give it a whirl some time. Sounds like a GREAT day of wheeling . . . long, but great! I'd have to make sure I had lots of snacks for my shotgun-riders . . . and plenty of barley-pops.
