2011 Wheelers for the Wounded - Marble Falls Texas 5/7/11

Awesome turnout, awesome time for a damn good cause.

http://www.wftw-sa.org/

I didn't get may photos while driving the trails, we basically just hammered it all day long. Hopefully some more who were at the event can post up some pics.

I was thinking of how it would be a shame to mess up the paint on this one...

This one was here last year when it was basically brand new. He has hammered it pretty damn good since then. You can check it out in last month's CRAWL mag.

More to follow...

I forgot to mention that the morning Breakfast was sponsored by a restaurant called "Al-T's" in a little east Texas town called Winnie - if you are in the area stop by there and say thanks. Plus they have some kick ass Cajun food. Bunker, his dad and a bunch from TJO were up bright and early to feed the drivers.

4 Wheel Parts stepped up big as a sponsor as they have every year - thanks a ton for the support!!! They raffled off a ton of stuff including some RC cars signed by Greg him self.

Another sponsor was the makers of these awesome little machines... an all terrain wheel chair.

My boy tested one out. The wounded troops who attended the event got to use them for the day. Pretty damn cool.

I'm starting to like that place. Every time I go there I see improved trails. Sory I missed it this year (stuck in Dallas) but its probably for the best. Polynesian chicks drive me crazy!

Ya'll missed out on a good time for sure. We ran out with the Dern crew and did quick morning run. With just two rigs and it was a blast. Really got to enjoy the trails for a bit without the usual waiting that goes with bigger groups. There were a bunch of breaks out on the trail Sat. Two rigs in front of me and one right behind. I think my steering finally took a shit on me... will do a BDA later on today and see what's up. It took me a good half hour to get the dust out of my ass crack from three days of camping. To say it was dry out there is a bit of an understatement. Even the trails that are usually loaded with water (Wet and Wild, No Name) were all but dry except for a few spots of really nasty mud. I don't mean nasty as in tough to drive through but nasty as in the flies said it smelled bad...

I really like that place. You can get into as much as you want or as little and still have a good time.

The beast did real good. Ran the toughest trails and didn't need a tug or a winch all weekend. Although I did use my tree strap once.... for a Zuki!!

One thing that I saw that I kinda did a bit of a face palm was rigs running trails that they didn't really have any business running. A stock FJ and a stock Hummer truck to name a few. It slowed things down considerably for the rest... I don't knock'em for trying to push their rigs it was just the wrong time to do it. Crowded trails, breaks and stock rigs struggling on every obstacle takes away from why we are there... to show these folks a good time. I will provide some feedback to the folks that put it on and suggest that they police that a bit.

Yeah, we ended up going to the back and getting out of it. One thing that needs to be mentioned, is trail etiquet. If a rig breaks get it out of the way ASAP and fix it off the trail if possible. We ran into a few that could have dragged thiers of to the side. For the most part when a rig broke bad it was put out of the way. Only a few times did we run into a jam up and it was usually small details that could have been done elswhere.

Mine took out a 42" Pitbull. I let the lady riding me drive and she was not at all afriad of HP. That combined with a sharp rock opened one of them up. As for breaks, it was not bad. We just pulled it up on the side of Wet n Wild and left it for night time

Sorry I missed it this year. I have been the last two years and have really enjoyed the trail and the cause. I'm selling the house with a short time on getting out so no go. Glad everyone enjoyed the food and the fun. Thanks for the link on the wheelchair tracks.
