Anza Borrego for New Years REPORT

What a great weekend here are some photos

The trail from the trail head to the first obstacle is a series of sandy tracks and washes that gains altitude while going through a changing landscape of occotillo, yucca, cholla and beavertail, and of course, pinyon trees.

we made good time to the "squeeze" and then started getting all the jeeps through:

Of course, these trips wouldn't be complete without Mike trying to run me down. Look at the intensity on his face as he lines me up in his crosshairs...

I ran to the top to do some spotting so missed a few shots but there should be plenty of pics to come from some of the others.

We moved on and were planning on heading to the Mud Caves when the last thing I would have ever expected happened. A flop on the last real obstacle on PM. Again, the rain and erosion had worked it's magic on the trails and this obstacle, of which I have no pictures, was no exception. When I went up it, it slid me over to the driver side and into a big hole, made bigger by the rain. I adjusted and went up and then Mike did almost exactly the same thing with a little scarier results, but he made it up. All was going well and I was just coming back down the hill to take pics when Roger went over on his side. That has to be the loudest flop I've ever heard. I swear I thought Roger was going to be squished. But he came up no worse for wear. The Jeep on the other hand, not so much. Some one else will have to post pics. After Chuck got turned around we hooked up his winch (Superwinch, that is) and got the Jeep pulled back on all fours. We cleaned up the mess. All the innards came out (tools, supplies, food) and of course some busted glass. We got it all cleaned up and got the rest of the rigs up the hill as a group of jeeps came up behind us.

We got back to camp and had dinner, drinks and some good conversation then celebrated the New year with a BANG! or two. Can't think of any people I would rather spend the Holiday with than MJR folks. Best Jeep people in the world.

Next day we went to Truckhaven and explored the Calcite mine, the Sheep tanks, and drove through Truckhaven exploring the terrain there. Maybe we should move IDTT to truckhaven. Hmmmmm.... And thanks to George (TDS SD) for the tour. He really knows that place well and took the time to lead us through before heading home. Again, thanks George.

Thanks to everyone that came up to play. Happy new year everyone!

My wife got a few shots for Rodger, I'm glad it all went as smooth as possible. We had a wonderful New Years with our close friends. Thank you to everyone that made it such an awesome trip.

Nice trip! Thanks for bringing me back. Heart Attack hill is the only place I ever flipped a rig. Was about 20 years ago in a 1984 Toyota PU. Had to fold the mirrors in for the squeeze then came up on the hill that was severely divited from people trying to climb it the wrong way. Only way out was down and I had 2 buddies on the rear bumper, but not enough weight or experience on my part. The gal I was with and trying to impress I ended up marrying. Were still together today if that means anything. We haven't been back since, but your pics have inspired a return trip!

did anyone get any fender damage on the squeeze?

I went through there for the first time and scrapped up my fender taking the same lines as most of the pictures above.

the roll over, was that after heart attack hill?
