Silverton, CO trip this past weekend

I took a 3 day weekend with some friends and went on some trail rides up in the Silverton, CO area. We hit several trails and explored mines and ghost towns up in the mountains. It was perfect weather and plenty of Fall colors.

We did:

Imogene Pass

Ophir Pass

Corkscrew Gulch Trail, California Gulch Trail, Placer/Picayne Gulch Trails and Animas Fork Trail

Here are the KMZ and GPX files for the Corkscew trail:

KMZ

GPX

Great Pics! Looks like you had a great time.
My family and I will be in Pagosa Springs this coming weekend, and we are looking for some places to wheel.
These are a little farther than we want to go (only there Saturday). Do you know of some trails closer to Pagosa?

Few more from the Sound Democrat Mill where we had lunch on Saturday and spent some time exploring the mill.

Actually there are a few trails right their in the National Forests surrounding Pagosa. My buddy that went with me to Silverton has a home up there in Pagosa and we have done a few various trails thru the forest. I can't recall specifics. However, I do remember stopping at the Ranger station and getting a map from them with the trails and finding out about trail conditions so that might be your best bet. Have a great time there!

Here are some old threads of a couple trail rides I did in Pagosa with my Commander back in 2008:

If you have never done it before Silverton is awesome during the 4th of July. They have one of the best fireworks shows around. Our jeep club takes part in the parade every year.

Great pictures! Hope to see ya on the trails sometime. We did Axle-crusher last weekend. The trees are amazing right now. This is by far the best wheelin time of the year. IMOA
