Playing in the Snow; Western CO

We have had a decent amount of snow over Christmas break, myself and Karnage Fab (Phillip) decided to head out and play in the fresh powpow! We headed up to Glade Park above Grand Jct and started gaining elevation and deeper snow! Both of us are locked front & rear and on 35's. We stopped where the dirt road started and aired down, I dropped to 10 PSI.... when we stopped it was 12 degrees out!

The snow had a layer that was old, then quite a bit of fresh powder on top... made for a good base, for the most part. We pushed pretty hard, found where the plow truck had stopped when it was up there around Thanksgiving. After thinking about it, we pushed past the plowed point and it got soft and deep, fast! We probably went 100 yards down the road and it was over 3' deep.... I was still on the base and the snow was over my 35's! I found a little drift and lost forward momentum. It got a little sketchy, but rocking back & forth got me moving again and we backed out.

Later on we found another road out towards the UT/CO border that was pretty steep and gained elevation pretty quick. Again, we were pushing pretty hard... my Jeep was making it's best progress in 4 Low, 2nd gear and 5,000 RPM! I was keeping an eye on the engine temp gauge, it got warm a couple times but always let it cool back down quickly.

We got stopped again after a hard attempt, backed down the hill and decided to call it a day... no real stucks, no need for a winch or strap and no digging! Good enough to call it a day!

Awesome day man. I'm very strongly wanting to take a westward trip for camping, photography, and mild wheeling either this summer or next.
