Since installing an aftermarket arm rest and memory foam hed rest, its much more comfortable to lean the seat back. The only problem is, 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear are a stretch for my arm to reach now. Was wondering if anyone has taken a torch to the shift lever and bent it back a bit. I'm just talking about the upper portion. Would it cause any problems?
I read once on here where someone had it done. The trick is to not cook the rubber bushing in the transmission end when heating it. Otherwise, I cannot see how it could hurt anything.
I bent mine cold (no torch) a few times to move the shift handle closer to the driver. Mild steel, no drama if you're making minor adjustments in my experience.
