Transfer Case Shift Cable Issue.

While out wheeling today, I tried to go into 4WD and noticed that the shift felt like a sponge. Pulled up the center console and noticed the plastic connector holding the cable down has broken. Question, is this going to require full replacement of the cable or can this one part be replaced?

If it's the cable housing anchor that broke, it can be purchased from the dealer.
Can you post a picture of the broken part?

Every time I try to upload a small photo it fails. But it is the round black plastic piece that holds the cable housing in place if that helps. It looks like it's attached to the cable housing which makes me think the whole cable assembly would have to be purchased. Just don't want to be another dealer victim.

Yeah you can buy the plastic pieces to replace broken parts. Part number 68064273AB. Should be less than $10 at the dealer. Get two so you can also replace the bushing on the TC selector arm.

Alternatively, you can purchase the replacement cable assembly from Advance Adapters. It has small metal heim joints at the cable ends but it will run you about $200.

That's the bushing that commonly breaks.
I think he's after the piece that anchors the cable housing to the structure under the console.

Correct. There is no problem with the bushings. I wish it were because that is an easy fix. This problem is indeed what you say above. Looks like Iím buying a new cable

Hmmm... Well this site should show the needed part. Recommend getting those white bushings anyway. My bushings fell apart in my hand when I replaced the cable.

Take a picture of the broken part. Show it to the dealer parts guy. See if it's something they have or can get.
I know the anchor clip for the t-case end of the cable housing is available. Without a picture of your broken part, I can't say the console end of the cable is the same.

This broke on mine. Literally a $2.50 piece at 4wheelparts. I bought four and tossed the extras in my kit.

I have a pack of those and the e-clips in bottom of my glovebox.

Were I to have breakage as OPs did, I would buy the AA linkage beef-up. I learned with the JKs that just treating the consumer grade xfer case shifter like it is a little china doll to be can go a long way . Eventually those bushings and /or the hard mount seems to always eventually self destruct thru normal usage
