I got layed off 2 months ago. So I'm going back to school again... 9yrs military and B.S. in Business and can't get a decent job where I don't have contact with the general public. So I'm using the last of my GI Bill to get a A.S. in Welding.

How this thread will go:

"Check out my awesomebitchinz weldz!"

Reply: "Blah blah blah, critique critique [insert "undercut" somewhere] blah blah"

Reply-to-reply: "F*** you bro I've built tons of shit it will hold"

Reply-to-reply-to-reply: "I'm cirtified in something so your life is irrelevant"

....thread spirals into something that looks like a post-zombie-apocolypse wasteland of hate and my-dick-is-bigger-ickering until someone closes the thread or dissapears.

None of the above, just always seems to be how any welding thread, build thread, internet anything, seems to go. Especially one that is going to focus on showing "weld porn"... Just trying to make light of it

I don't think this thread will go in your predicted direction. Almost like a work of art, a good weld is a thing of beauty that most men enjoy looking at. I surely won't be posting any

Just enjoy the pictures, now come on boys, post them up!

I retired after 33 years working in the NDT, Metallurgy and Welding Inspection Field. I agree with DJ above, a good weld is art. A good weld is the result of a compilation of factors that when controlled by the right, knowledgeable person can result in a work of art consisting of mechanical, electrical and metallurgical design combined with human thought and touch. Not all can weld. I've tested plenty of welders who came in with an attitude, talking shit and were sent packing. There are those who spend a great deal of time trying to make a weld look good on the surface in an effort to cover up defects underneath. UT and X-Ray most always discover this. Pressed jeans and starched khaki work shirt does not a welder make. Vics welds have always been works of art.
