2014 Rubicon "Throphy JK" Build.

Hey everyone, first post here on jko. Came over here from jkf because i felt there was more knowledge at hand here. Digging into a crazy build to my poor jeep!
Heres the start, 2014 Rubicon in black. Whopping 14K miles and its going under the knife. Put some lights on it, spod, and a 7" Lowrance GPS which will be moving over to pass side.

The Goal! Go Fast! Me and my dad take this thing out everywhere, so i wanted to build a very versatile jeep that will be able to go fast when i want it to.

So far heres the build sheet:
99-04 superduty dana 60 front axle
Artec 3 link brackets
Currie f450 unit bearings to regain abs, etc
Arb locker, 538 gears
Evo DTD kit
Chromo shafts
2" Stretch
King 2.0 Bumps
Psc steering

Custom arms all around using johhny joints and 2"X.25 Chromoly tube.

14 bolt FF rear end
Artec truss, and more brackets.
Detriot locker, 538's
dynatrac tone rings
KING 14" 2.5 coilovers with Internal bypasses and comp adjusters
KING 14" 2.5 3 tube bypasses.
BTR beadlocks wrapped in 39" Toyo MT

So far ive got most of the stuff. Waiting on front axle to arrive so i can start to get that ready for welding.

Want to thank Marcus at RCO for snagging me the dtd kit. Great guy to deal with.

Will update with pics as parts start coming in! Any suggestions, criticism, please let me know, thats why im here!

Little update today. Got a set of 39" toyos for super cheap from a local race team.

Rear hubs are at the machine shop getting the dynatrac tone rings pressed on.

Also front locker and comp arrived!

How do you like the Lowrance GPS , and how are you going to mount it on the passenger side.

It's pretty sweet! Definitely reccommend getting the antenna that goes outside the vehicle. Makes aquiring the initial signal a lot faster. Overall though if I was to do it again I would go with the hds line.

As for mounting, Carolina metal masters makes a grab bar with a ball mount on it. Simply gonna fab up a "flush" mount for the back of the gps and then mount it on an existing ram mount I've purchased. Will post pics when it's done.

Picked up front axle today. Got it all torn down. Sending the pass side knuckle to weaver fab for their high steer. Also deciding on brakes, go oe ford or something better?

Also got the rear hubs back from machining. Would post pics but some reason it's not letting me on the mobile site.

Little Progress today. Tone rings machined onto rear hubs, and also installed new crawler conceptz bumper and did the little grill mod thing. Not sure how i feel about it yet. Be changing the color on it and doing something different with the mounting.
After putting the bumper on i realized one of two things, first being the vacuum pump or "canister" needs to be moved. I went ahead and ordered the teraflex kit. Second thing is that the sway bar motor is now right in the way of rocks and bad stuff, not to mention how ugly it looks. So hopefully be able to sell that and replace it with a currie antirock.

You might as well figure doing some major cutting on the frame to mount the 2.5" 14" travel coil over, like remove the main frame section and rebuild around the opening. Even with full width axles there is not going to be enough room even if you french the frame. Are you planning on eliminating the rear seat? If so a double triangulated rear set up with a fuel cell would be a better way to so you can eliminate the rear track bar. Your ass end will be all over the place with a track bar at high speed off road. I would recommend a custom rear suspension and not a bolt on so you can dial in the geometry better and locate brackets for better clearance. With as many modifications as you are making why set the bracketry up for short arm geometry. If you want RK arms they can custom make what you need. I would give some serious thought to a custom roll cage as well and some 5 point harnesses with suspension seats.

Good luck with the build.

All super good points.
For the mounting of the shocks it's looking like that's gonna be the only way to fit them. My fabricator is working on all that now. Most likely ditching the rear half of frame and custom towers into the tub.

The rear seat has been gone since day one.

I have put a lot of thought into what you said. 4 link and a fuel cell. But what do you mean by short arm geometry? The RK long arm kits still use the same geometry as the short arms do? The reason I picked that route is that it's easy. Just get the parts and weld them in and set it up. I don't have the fabrication skills or knowledge to be able to do it on my own so I would also have to factor in more cost to do so. In the end though, that is what I would have preferred to do. Who knows, still might.

As for cage, that's already in the works.
I appreciate all your input as always, never has it not helped me.

Well, the jeep left for fabrication today. Driving it on the freeway with no front sway bar was definitely not fun. Finally decided on everything thanks to alot of help from alot of people.
When it comes back it will have:
Custom 3 link front, stretched 2 inches
Evo DTD kit
SD Dana 60 semi built
Full custom cage welded directly to frame
Rear Coilover/Bypass 14" Kings
King bump stops on each corner
Double tri 4 link in rear stretched 4 inches
Custom fuel cell
AAM 14 Bolt
Mastercraft Seats
VKS bumpers, sliders, and light bar mounts. Thanks again Vick!

The rear will be something very similar to poison spyders/ Northridge build.

Its a ton of work and im stoked to FINALLY get the ball rolling again.
Packed the jeep and my truck will all the parts and hit the road!

Ill be posting pictures as the build progresses and all the pieces start going on.

The destruction has begun. Factory roll bar is out, so is most of the interior. Getting ready for the cage and rear back half.
