DarK_Reaper's build/wheeling thread

So with spring around the corner (hopefully) and my Moab trip being closer than ever, I figured why not start a build thread. Right now, with my limited access to a garage, and not knowing how to weld, most of my mods are bolt-ons, or outsourced. Hopefully, in the next year or so, I will be able to get a welder and start learning.

Current mods:
- RK 2.5 Max
- RRD Shocks
- Artec Armor front armor kit
- PSC Brawler lite
- 37" Nitto TG(on order)

Everyone likes pictures, so here they are.

Day one, at the dealer

25 minutes later, high centered in my friend's backyard

Fast forward 4 months, tires and lift

Had to try them

Then the Artec truss

And wheeled like that for the 2013 season

Winter 2014

"Winter" tires

Got my bumper mid-December, and couldn't wait to install it.

My winch had been sitting for almost a year at that point, so I had to try it (no, that's not me, it's the GF).

Some snow wheeling

In the next couple of weeks, I should be getting the following:

- 4.88 gears
- Synergy lower shock mounts
- Synergy Drag link
- Ruff Stuff Tie rod
- 37" Nitto TG

Beauty- Similar route with mine-
Where in QC do you wheel- I'm in Petawawa- some of your pics look like they're from Algonquin Park.

I do most of my wheeling in the Calabogie area. When we drive to Qc, we usualy go to the Laurentide area. But after last year's encounter with a local club, I don't think I'll be back there anytime soon.

I might acutally take you offer to install some of the parts I will be getting, since I can't wait for all the snow to melt, and it's too wet to work outside now. We could do your lift at the same time!

After hunting for tires for the past week (stupid Toyo MT are back order everywhere ), it looks like I'll be running the Nitto Trail Grappler.

I'll be driving down to Ogdensburg, NY next week to pick everything up, and then it's wrenching time

37x12.5x17.

I sold my 35 last week, and will be running 37 this season.

I love my 40x13.50 17 trail grapplers and I only lost 2-3 MPG vs the tiny stock 255/75/17s. I still have stock 4.10s and have not recalibrated for tire size either.

Gotta love crossing the border on a Saturday morning

But it was totally worth it

Special thanks to Marcus from RCO, and John from Crawlin Performance!

So, after running the 37s for two days, I must says that I don't understand how people can say that 4.10 and 37s with the Pentastar is alright. I mean, it's feasable, but no where near enjoyable. Plus, millage is absolute crap unless I drive like my grandma. I should be re-gearing to 4.88 next weekend, so I'll be able to properly compare both setups.

Also, cutting up a 2013 just to make bigger tires fit is kinda fun

Got the front gears installed today. We ran out of time while doing the rear, so we'll finish tomorrow.

Are you still on stock drive shafts? Been eyeing the RK 1.5 or 2.5 but I don't want to change the drive shafts yet.

No, my stock shaft lasted about 5000 km before the boot split and lost all the grease. Now I'm running an Adam's shaft in the front, and stock in the back.

So, a friend of mine gave me his steering box out of his wrecked 07. My original plan was to drill it to do the Hydro assist, but after closer inspection, I noticed that the silver cap is cracked.

From my understanding, the 07 box is rebuildable right? Can I just replace the cap, or should I take the whole think apart? Where can I find a rebuild kit for these?

I'm almost ready for my 3500km journey to Moab!

Did some last minute mods to give the 37s some breathing room.

And this is the end result.

Pics and vids from Moab will be coming around June 9 when we come back!!!

We finally made it back from Moab! That was a hell of a drive.

Here's a video of the drive from Ottawa to Moab. I'll have more pictures to come once I've clean them up

Nice, and interesting choice of music!
I did a timelapse for my trek from ontario to cali in 2012 as well, ah the 401.
Looks like you got rained on a lot of the way.

Unspoilt by progress.
